LingDyTalk is an audio playing application developed with the support of the Linguistic Dynamic Science Project 3. This application provides a simple interface for playing back audio data stored on a server.
The application plays back audio based on the capture of numerals by the built-in camera of a smartphone. When a numeral such as the page number of a book is captured, the app plays back the audio linked to that numeral.
We developed this iOS/Android application "LingDyTalk" for revitalizing minority languages.
Linguistic Dynamics Science 3 (LingDy3; 2016.04ー2022.03) aims to advance a range of research activities in support of building multicultural and multilingual societies with a special focus on Asian and African regions. Through active collaboration with both academic research institutions and minority language communities, the project aspires to build mutually beneficial relationships between them, such as developing interests and capacity in language documentation and revitalization within language communities that can positively impact not only the communities themselves but also academic research activities.
